Nightmare Before Christmas Released In 1993

Man, it's hard to believe that Nightmare Before Christmas was released in 1993.  I remember going to see it with my friend Rose at the local theater, and just being amazed. I absolutely loved it! Everything about this movie is perfect, from the story to the score, the actors, everything!
Let's put it this way, I was in then11th grade when it came out and it's still one of my favorite films.
I know people argue over if it's a Halloween film or a Christmas movie? To me, it is both and a movie you can enjoy anytime. So, go pull out that copy, or I'm sure you can stream it on Netflix or Amazon, and relax and go back to 1993 and hang out with Jack and Sally!

The Imagination Of Dean Ray- The World Of Autumndale and The Film Porcelain

Last week I got introduced to a new filmmaker/comic writer named Dean Ray through a mutual friend on Facebook. Needless to say, I was very interested in learning about this guy's movie and comic books. I always love to meet fellow horror fans that share the same passion for the genre that I do, especially someone who is willing to go out on a limb and create a film with a small budget. Let's be honest, all of us have thought about making our own horror movie but never did. Well, Dean Ray did and the dude wrote a comic book. Now how is that for rad?

Dean Ray

So, here we go into the strange world of Autumndale

First, I want to talk about the comics - I love comics. Growing up in the 80's and 90's, I was either at the video rental store or the comic shop, so this was truly a delight for me. Dean sent me a few pages of the comic, and I dove right into them.

Autumndale has a little bit of everything from witches, to crazy doctors, werewolves, something that everyone will love. What really caught my attention was each story sets a different mood. When the story is moody or more dark, the drawings are very dark and creepy to keep in time with the story. And the more vibrant ones are just like Dean's words, eye popping and catchy.

Let's put it this way, I really want to see the characters develop. I have been put directly into their lives and now I want to see the stories grow. I'm digging this a lot! This dude has one hell of an imagination.

Porcelain

You know me, any movie with a creepy mask on the cover, I need to watch it.

Porcelain is a gritty, back to basics horror movie and at the center of it is a girl set on getting revenge on the people who stole her life and innocence away from her. And let's not forget she wears a rad mask!

Dollface was abducted, abused, and tormented by the local crime boss. This dude is one of those well-protected guys, well his circle of henchmen and daughter all come face to face with the brutal Dollface on her quest for blood and revenge. These people have no idea who is coming for them or what lengths she will go to to get her revenge!

I absolutely love independent movies. I love low budget horror. This film reminds me of the 80's when anyone with a script and some friends and a camera could make a rad movie. It may not be the best film, and may not have everything together, but at least they made a movie. Now how many of you can say that? I admire Dean Ray for putting himself out there to make this vision of his come true. Is it perfect? No. Did I like it? Of course I did, and I can't wait to see where he takes Dollface next.

I am very happy to have become friends with this dude from Georgia. Living in SC, it's so rad to meet another horror fan that is making his dream come true. Who knows, maybe one day he will let me join in the fun and cast me in one of his films.

Please go check out this page and go order this rad film, and be on the lookout for more crazy things from Dean Ray!
